The Master of Business Administration degree has long been the go-to graduate route for business professionals and managers. While there are now more options available than the MBA (see our management and leadership degrees), it still has a lot going for it, especially for those with certain goals. For example, if your intention is to gain a greater and deeper understanding of the various functions involved in administrating a business (e.g. finance, accounting, operations, data analysis, and marketing, to name a few), then the MBA will likely be a good fit. Whereas, if your goals lean more toward taking a wide-range of courses that will develop your knowledge and skills as a general manager or an organizational leader, then a master degree in management or leadership might be a better option.
But, let's say that after you have looked into all of your options you determine that the online MBA is right for you, but you do not have a specific school in mind. If this is you, then the below list is for you. What we have assembled is a list of quality schools that offer AACSB-accredited online MBA programs at an affordable cost. We chose this specific pairing because AACSB accreditation ensures certain long-held criteria have been met by the accredited school and, in this instance, the school meets that criteria at an affordable cost to you. Another secondary factor we considered was whether or not the school required a GMAT/GRE score and, if it does, does it offer an avenue for those scores to be waived (most of the programs below do indeed have criteria in place to allow for the waiving of GMAT/GRE test scores).
One last thing to consider before beginning the list below is whether or not you will be using the knowledge and skills you gain through your degree in a for-profit business setting or in a not-for-profit and/or government setting. If it is the former and you have determined that you want to learn more about the various functions of managing a business, then the MBA is probably the right program for you. However, if it is the latter, then we suggest you also take a look at our list of master degrees in public administration (MPA).
With all that said, please scroll on and happy searching!
