Below is Page one-of-two of 250+ free online management and administration courses organized by topic or specialty in 14 different sections and provided by Alison, a long-established provider of online training. While the courses themselves are free, there is a cost if you would like a certificate or diploma of completion; but, again, accessing the material in each course comes at absolutely no cost to you (you will have to register with Alison to take your first course, but this is also free). According to Alison, a certificate course is designed to be completed in under three hours, while a diploma course typically takes eight to ten hours to complete.
The compilation directly below this introduction (Page one) consists of the following topics/specialty areas: Supervision and general management, employee motivation and engagement, team building, operations management, quality management, supply chain management, scrum and agile, and project management.
Page two consists of the following topics/specialty areas: Information technology management, communication and interpersonal skills, human resources management, hospitality and tourism management, business and office administration, data analysis, supply chain management, Scrum, and Agile. To access page two, please click here.
You can navigate our lists in two ways: 1) you can simply scroll from top-to-bottom to view all available courses or 2) you can use the menu section located both below this introduction and after each course section to jump to a specific topic/specialty.
All seven of the management certification providers we sampled accept Alison courses as credit for continuing education, with three noting that the training still had to relate to the specific skill/specialty covered by the certification (e.g. if the certification is in project management, the training must in some way relate to managing a project, which still allows for considerable room in which courses are eligible to be used as continuing education credit; i.e. courses in team dynamics, leadership, communication, information systems, data analysis, and motivation—to name only a few—can relate to managing a project).
Additionally, some U.S. colleges and universities may accept the longer Alison courses, such as the diploma courses, as undergraduate course credit. Of course, you will need to check with the specific school to determine their exact criteria for accepting prior training and experience as a substitution for coursework, regardless if you are attending a University in the U.S. or elsewhere.
Lastly, we at Management Works cannot overstate how important we think continual learning is for managers, supervisors, administrators, and leaders in today’s rapidly changing work environment. The courses listed below can help you refresh your knowledge of long-standing concepts and principles, stay abreast of emerging theories, and even acquire understanding in a topic or specialty outside of your regular area of operations. We have received testimonies stating that completing several of the courses in one specialty have been enough to enable people to make a job/career change. So, enjoy browsing through these courses and happy learning!
